“Stress doesn’t really go with my outfit.”
So, you’ve had a bad day. We all have them. I could write a best-selling novel on the amount of bad days that I’ve had. Instead I let go of them and de-stress myself. Life isn’t perfect but it’s as happy as we make it. After a bad day, there’s a few things which help me feeling more content and back to my hyperactive self. I’ve listed my top 6 de-stressing activities in the hope that they might help you as well.
De-stress your mind and soul
Mediate or breathe slowly –
This may sound patronizing but whenever I can feel myself getting stressed out or angry I breathe slowly. I count to ten. I sit in my favourite place and try not to over think what’s going on. This gives your mind time to find peace with whatever got you worked up in the first place. Usually, I’ll realize that I am getting annoyed over something really small and that there is worse things that could happen.
Take some well deserved “You” time –
There’s nothing I enjoy more than my own company if I’m being totally honest. When I’ve had a long, hard day all I want to do is take a super long candle-lit bath. Afterwards, I’ll read a book or watch an episode of Gossip Girl. I personally believe it’s important that we take time out of our busy lives and just have some relaxation time.
Get a Massage –
When I’m stressed out I find my self reaching towards my little head massage simulator! It instantly helps me to relax and feel more at ease. You can get these from anywhere really, most drugstores stock them and they’re fairly cheap. If you feel like that won’t cut it, book yourself in for a full body massage for god’s sake. Treat yourself – I promise you’ll feel the benefit.
Write your thoughts –
Type them up or jot them down. Trust me sometimes we just need to have a bloody big rant. When you’re generally feeling stressed out – there’s more than likely going to be a reason behind it. It helps me to write a huge rant in my drafts – when I’m done I feel like a huge weight has been lifted.
Spend time with a loved one –
Another thing that I love to do when I’m feeling stressed is to spend some quality time with either my boyfriend, my family or my friends. It takes my mind away from my worries and it’s just really enjoyable to spend time with people close to me.
Get a change of scenery –
It’s surprising how much a walk in the park or along the beach can actually improve your mind-set. If you find yourself looking at the same four walls all of the time no wonder you feel stressed out. This might be my favourite way to de-stress.
That’s my Sunday post sorted. Whatever your week brings you – I hope it’s amazing.
