Stanley Gate Ormskirk
Saturday afternoon me and my boyfriend went to the Stanley Gate Ormskirk. John worked over-time a lot this week and we both needed a little treat. We’d actually planned to get our favourite dessert from the pub and a cup of tea. After smelling the food we decided to order a two-course meal. If you’ve never been – it does a great Sunday roast dinner with giant Yorkshire puddings.
Brewer’s rib of beef and pulled pork
After looking through their choice of mains we both decided to get the beef and pulled pork. To avoid food envy we ordered the same meal. It came marinated in barbecue sauce, slow-cooked and served on the bone with sweet potato fries and garlic & herb glazed corn on the cob and coleslaw. I’m a lover of corn on the cob and coleslaw. If this is on my plate I’m happy. The meat was lovely, although it was a hell of a lot for me to finish. Not for John though, he absolutely nailed it.
Millionaire’s cheesecake (v)
This was the first cheesecake that I fell in love with. Every time I go to the Stanley Gate Ormskirk I order this mouth watering pudding. It’s a vanilla cheesecake with chunky cookie dough pieces, caramel & chocolate fudge sauce, crumbled shortbread and whipped double cream. If you ever go to the Stanley Gate – you must try it! It’s a magical cheesecake honestly.
No dessert is perfect unless it’s paired with a remarkable cup of English tea. Two sugars and a little milk; Strong but sweet. Just the way we like it. Of course the cup has a lipstick mark.
A little thank you from me to you 💖 –
