Day Out at Chester Zoo & PLAY! area

So, it’s the Summer holidays and I’m actually off for a week. It feels good to unwind. Catch up on Game Of Thrones and actually have free time for days out! My boyfriend passed his driving test recently so we thought it was about time we became adults and take 2 of my nephews for a day out at Chester Zoo.

Before I get cracking though, I’ve got a funny story for you. Not for me. For me, it was horrific. So, we’re on the motorway with nowhere to pull over. My youngest nephew suddenly gets car sick and vomits all over himself and the car. It was a good job mummy packed spare clothes and a hell of a lot of baby wipes. That’s not all though. When we got to the services – a wasp flew in the car! Normally, I’d run, scream and hide. Instead I grabbed my 4 year old nephew and waited outside of the car for my boyfriend to get rid of the wasp. I’m pretty proud with how I handled myself to be honest. Who knew I could adult?! Not me.

Day Out at Chester Zoo

Well, after all the dramatics we made it to the zoo and my nephew was feeling better than ever so we headed straight to the Monkeys. Both of them were eager to see them. They’re located right by the entrance so that was handy! I was glad to see the moneys were happy and jumping from branch to branch.  Straight afterwards we decided to get a look at the bat cave. Which I thought that I was going to love. When I got in there I was holding onto Michael who didn’t seem to mind the bats were nearly touching us. Ben loved it as well. I’m not going to lie, I was a little afraid but I’m glad I experienced it. Both of my nephews loved it and that’s the main thing really!

We went on to spot Deers, Rhinos, Flamingo’s, Elephants, Giraffes. You name it we seen it. I’m actually surprised with how many animals we managed to see whilst we were there. My personal favourite was the Flamingos. They’re just SO pretty and pink. I’m so predictable.

Ice-cream then PLAY!

It was about time we stopped for a rest and some ice-cream. Okay, a lot of ice-cream and little rest. We all got our energy back and were more than ready to head over to the brand new “PLAY!” area. Which I was well impressed with. There was so many fun things to do. Climb, jump, skip and even play in the sand. Myself and the others had plenty of fun. If you’re having a day out at Chester Zoo anytime soon, I’d recommend you try out the new PLAY! area. The sun was in our favour for the majority of the day which is always a plus. Even in the rain though, just get some wellies on and get ready to play!

You can read more about PLAY! over on the Chester Zoo website.

After hopping, skipping and jumping around the Zoo. My youngest nephew had so much fun seeing the animals that he wanted to be one. He decided to become a tiger with the help of a little face paint! Doesn’t he make the most adorable tiger?

As for the rest of my week off, me and my boyfriend are heading to Wales. Which I’ll more than likely be posting about so stay tuned. In the meantime – Let me know if you have any family days planned for the Summer holidays? Maybe you’re heading to Chester Zoo. If so, I hope you have a great day just like we did.

A huge thank you to Chester Zoo and Social Chain for inviting us along for a fun-filled day.
